Most families and survivors become knowledgeable about physical recovery
because there are many resources around to learn from. Professional people,
books and groups have all become adept at explaining physical recovery. It is
visible and easy to monitor change when the body is changing almost in front of
your eyes.
If you do not have a trained specialist as a counselor, the psychological
recovery processes can seem mysterious, invisible or out of your reach. Even
with trained professionals, words are not enough. Words don't get carried home
like a physical therapy program.
Survivors and their families get stuck. We call this being in Daily Survival.
Until families get access to guided materials about all types of psychological
recovery, they can stay stuck. That's where we come in. Our resources will help
you get unstuck.
IMAGINE: People describe you as open, flexible and willing to
adapt. You no longer are black and white in your thinking, feeling and
actions.
